COURTYARD GARDEN MURAL FOR RESIDENTIAL HOUSE IN CHELTENHAM

GARDEN GARAGE MURAL IN BRISTOL

This family wanted to transform their blank garage wall, spanning the width of their garden, that they looked out on from their kitchen, diner social area. They wanted the mural to tie in with the garden and become a part of it. So the design features some of the pitcher plants that surround the small pond and some ferns unfurling. The dark green background makes the pastel colours pop and keeps the wall amongst the greenery of the surroundings. Click the arrows to see the wall before the mural was painted.

ABSTRACT MURAL FOR JOINT LETTINGS AGENCY, BRISTOL

Creating a mural for this student house was a great opportunity for Sophie to play with some geometric and abstract forms. We wanted something balanced and contemporary, fun but not too in your face. The aim being to create a space that was totally unique, with lots of character, an inspiring place for the students to live.

MID CENTURY MODERN, BOTANICAL, EXTERIOR MURAL IN CRYSTAL PALACE LONDON

Painted across four walls, Sophie Rae created a design that flowed seamlessly around this London, box shaped garden. The design is a balance of bright colours and greens, architectural plant shapes and graphic mid century modern inspired elements. It also allows space for real plants to sit in front, in the planters. A injection of vibrancy into a social outdoor space.

The client said,

‘I absolutely loved working with Sophie - the whole experience, from our initial call to the design, to the execution was professional but also so friendly. COLOURFUL CONTEMPORARY EXTERIOR MURAL FOR PUBLIC GARDEN WALL IN PORTISHEAD BRISTOL

Sophie designed and painted this contemporary, botanical mural for a public garden wall that measured 15 meters long and just 80cm high. With abstract elements that are overlapped with the stylised leaves and flowers that are typical of Sophie Rae’s work. The client said,

‘An exceptional mural design by Sophie for a long wall outside the front of the house. After a short consultation a design was sent to us to review. It was exactly what we wanted - it replicated plants and flowers in our garden, full of bold vibrant colours. We did not make any changes. It was perfect!

Sophie arrived and began the work - it was mesmerising to watch how it was intricately marked out. The paint application had immediate impact - layers of colour built up over three days to produce a beautiful wall. Gone was the old concrete wall - transformed into a piece of garden art.

ABSTRACT BOTANICAL MURAL FOR THE HOARDINGS ON TEMPLE WAY IN BRISTOL

Sophie installed this design in a long days work, using large, bold, botanical motifs, with pops of colour to appeal to the busy, high traffic area of Temple Way, a main road leading down to Bristol’s main Temple Meads Train Station. This project is an example of how a large space can be completed in less time if the design is tailored to suit, and rollers are utilised to fill-in large sections of the design. The site of this mural measures roughly 8 x 2 meters. Feedback from this quick job was,

‘the mural looks great, the client is really happy and glad you didn’t get sun burnt either!’

It was a very hot day, but the trees provided an excellent canopy of shade.

ABSTRACT, BOTANICAL MURAL FOR RESIDENTIAL HOUSE ON WARWICK AVENUE IN EASTON, BRISTOL

This wall measuring around 2.5 x 2 meters was painted over a couple of days in April 2020. The design started as pencil sketches and was then developed on iPad software. The mural was painted in a colourful, uplifting palette to brighten up the residential street. There are bold block shapes balanced harmoniously with more subtle lines, marks and textures. Floral and botanical motifs are a signature feature of Sophie Rae’s latest mural work.

BOTANICAL MURAL FOR MOKOKO CAFE IN PORTISHEAD, BRISTOL

New Portishead café, Mokoko, invites customers with a personalised statement wall mural. The interior design company, Simple Simon, that commissioned Sophie Rae said she,

‘… interpreted the brief really well and her design fitted seamlessly with in our concept. Her design brought the whole space together. Sophie overcame any problem we threw at her. It was a pleasure collaborating with her on this project.’ 

• The owner behind Mokoko wanted to have a statement, personalised wall in his café, that was botanical and fitted in with the interior design and colour scheme and made it stand out against other cafés. The design also needed to allow gaps for the textured concrete plaster to be seen, in keeping with other walls on site. It also needed to be finished before the café opened to the public. There was also a section of wall which was not included in the initial measurements given when the mural was designed. Sophie was flexible and amended the design within the set timeframe.

• Sophie Rae created a botanical repeating pattern that decorated the space in a gentle way, using two specific colours that were used elsewhere in the cafe. The coffee machine was the same green. She worked around a busy team of electricians, plumbers, painters, etc… to get the wall completed in time. Sophie Rae was responsible and trustworthy, opening and locking up the building herself, when working different hours than other contractors.

WHAT TO EXPECT

So you’ve made an enquiry, been given a quote and decided to proceed. You may need to pay a deposit to cover materials and design costs. Sophie starts with learning about you and your vision before the design(s) are created and a mock up of what it will look like on the wall. (A good photo of the wall is required for this) to allow you to visualise the outcome. 

When the painting starts you can expect clean, tidy and efficient work. Surrounding areas are always protected and time is taken to prepare and clean the working environment before and after work. Fully insured and DBS checked. 

BOLD COLOURFUL COMMUNITY MURAL ON CHURCH ROAD, REDFIELD, BRISTOL

An 80 square meter mural commissioned by the Church Road Town team, funded by Bristol City Council. The design was informed by community engagement workshops, helping us to respond to local residents/businesses wishes. The design incorporates images relating to local areas, such as parks, cafes, festivals and also some of the local history, such as the trams.
